• no, if there is water in it, or water is too hot, the door will not open. it will remain locked.

According to the owner's manual for the LG 4.5 cubic foot, 14-Cycle Ultra-Large High-Efficiency Steam Front-Loading Washer, Model # WM4270HVA, "If the temperature or the water level inside the machine is too high, the door locks and cannot be opened. To open the door while washing, use the Rinse + Spin feature"!...IFV
