Hi there, Rock. Thank you for sharing your inquiry with us. We understand your question about cleaning the drain pump filter on your LG Front Load Washer, Model WM4000HWA. Regular cleaning helps maintain the performance of your unit. Here are the basic steps for cleaning the drain pump filter: Ensure the washer is off and grab a shallow pan and a towel. Open the access panel door, which is located on the lower front corner of the unit. Carefully pull out the small residual drain hose, place the hose into your pan, and remove its plug to drain the remaining water. Once drained, put the plug back in the hose and reinsert it. Remove the main pump filter by turning the large cap counter-clockwise. Clean any debris or lost items from the filter and its housing. Reinstall the clean filter by turning it clockwise until it is securely locked, and close the access panel.
