“I got the TV mainly to see movies and TV series stored in pen drives and hard disc. I realize i can play MP 4 format video but not AVI format. Unfortunately i have most of my vids in AVI format. Also can the TV be connected to WIFI? Hoping for TV updates”

According to the manual and LG's website, this does support AVI formatted videos.

In regard to AVI many mpeg4 videos are associated with an AVI container, "orignal AVI" is a very different and isn't used too much anymore - you could try renaming your file extensions and see if it works (I've had success with this approach with files on a blu-ray player that also handled USB flash drives - it liked .MP4 ext but not .AVI or MP4). {you can also transcode your files though computer software} - I haven't tried the media play back on this set.
