Not sure why you would need 2 remotes. I don't think I quite understand the question. I programmed my Direct TV remote to control it, and this LG tv.

But even with that, it will not control all the TV's functions and you will still need the TV's remote to access menu settings if you need to change those. If you are just using an antenna to receive your TV programming, then you only need to use the remote that comes supplied with the TV...^IFV
