“I just bought this yesterday to use only with UVerse. I don't understand Smart TV's and don't subscribe to anything else. So far I haven't been able to see anything on any setting except 720p (on bottom left when I hit "Info") - even football.”

Major television networks and cable companies broadcast in either 720p or 1080i encoded with MPEG-2 and satellite services such as DirecTV and Dish Network utilize the 1080p/24-30 format with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 encoding for their pay-per-view offerings that are downloaded in advance via satellite or on-demand via broadband. No subscriber based cable channel or premium movie channel such as HBO or Showtime stream their services live to their distributors in 1080p because they do not have sufficient bandwidth to provide the format streaming live to their subscribers. Currently no major broadcast network is presenting content with 4K so when you see 720p displayed on the LG 43 Inch Class 4K HDR Smart LED TV (42.5'' Diag), Model # 43UM6910PUA, that is the resolution of incoming signal. The 43UM6910PUA has a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 (i.e. 2160p). All TVs will play video content that they are presented with at their native resolution. When presented with a lower resolution than their native resolution, they will upconvert or upscale that signal to the TV's native resolution or as close as the TV can get the signal depending on how much data is in the signal that the TV has to work with. Netflix, Amazon, and Hollywood offer streaming services for 4K video (built-in apps in the TV). You can can also buy 4K Blu-ray players and 4K titles. And that is it...^IFV
