I bought the TV and it does overlap by 2 1/2 inches on either side. It does not create a problem at all. The design of the stand actually blends in with the base of the TV and it’s hardly noticeable. The TV solidly stands on the stand. I think it could overlap more than 2 1/2 inches and still be solidly supported.

What is means is that if your place the LG C2 48 Inch Class 4K OLED evo w/ ThinQ AI, Model # OLED48C2PUA exactly in the middle of your sturdy 28" TV stand, the TV stand base will overlap your TV stand by 2 1/2" on either side so if your sturdy 28" TV stand is as sturdy as you say,it should support the TV. The weight distribution of the TV is mainly on the 33" TV stand base and not on the 2 1/2" overlap on either side of your sturdy 28" TV stand...^Ivan
