Hello Lee. The LG - 49" Class (48-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - HDTV, Model # 49LB5550 is both dual voltage 100 ~ 240V and dual frequency 50/60Hz but that's half the story! Yes, the TV can be plugged into a 220V socket in Europe, but keep in mind that Europe use different types of plugs. Changing the plugs to get them to fit European sockets is the least of your concerns though because TVs marketed in the US are strictly for the NTSC broadcast system and Europe uses mostly PAL Broadcast systems or SECAM which is used by about 52 different countries and one country that uses Mescam. What that means for you is that you cannot receive local broadcasts in those countries, but if you have a multi region DVD/Blu-ray Player that will playback discs you can watch them on that TV. The only other alternative, would be to get a converter that will convert from one video signal to another. The brick and mortar Best Buys may not have them in store, but you can probably find them through their online business...IFV
