“Can I turn off local dimming and use traditional edge dimming? I own an LG OLED TV after having gone through a bunch of local dimming LCD (LED) TV's that looked horrible with local dimming. I don't want to spend much on a TV for my den.”

You can turn off local dimming and just use the display as normal. There doesn’t appear to be global dimming on the LG outside of the APS mode which semi-adjust picture for your environment.
