• This player is not region free. This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only BD-ROM or DVD discs labelled same as the rear of the unit or “ALL”. ^Daphane

• I am not sure about settings. I use DVD Shrink. You can download a free copy and install. It will allow you to burn a region-free copy (DVD-R). I have used for over 20 years with great success.
