LG product literature says "LG Sound Sync technology links compatible LG televisions to the sound bar wirelessly, using Bluetooth." So if i have compatible LG Atmos enabled TV, do i still need to connect to soundbar with HDMI cable to play Atmos content? null

Yes it requires HDMI ARC.

Dolby Atmos only works via HDMI.
