QuestionCan wireless rear speakers be added to the lg sj9 sound bar system?

- Answer Not sure who this is from "LG", but the LG Music Flow P5 & P7 speakers will not work. Trust me, I purchased both based on this recommendation. Apparently only the "H" series will. The SJ9 is still a great soundbar, but apparently someone needs to update his/her knowledge of their product line before they give customers inaccurate information. Hope this helps. Cheers!

QuestionDoes the digital optical port support Dolby Atmos? I would rather not use ARC if possible

- Answer No, there is not enough bandwidth for atmos through optical. ARC was a main reason I returned the unit I bought. It was having issues with my LG OLED. Go figure.

- Answer Yes you can use LG H3, H5, H7, and other LG MusicFlow wireless speakers. I have two H7 wirelessly connected to my SJ9 as rears and it sounds great!

QuestionI just connected the SJ9 via HDMI ARC to my OLED B7 and don't know why most of the Sound settings on my TV are now grayed out (Dolby ATMOS, Smart Sound Mode, Sound Mode Settings, Magic Sound Tuning, Volume Mode). Is this normal?

- Answer Yes, this is normal. The Sound setting are for the TVs “Internal” audio processing. With ARC, the Volume is now being controlled by the soundbar not the TV. ^AC

- Answer we have this bar and use it in a open living room kitchen concept it fills our room with great sound but it has night mode to quiet it down keeping the volume down also would help just depends on the size of your living room it`s a great sound bar...

- Answer Regrettably, we currently do not have any information on whether or not the LG 5.1.2 ch High Resolution Audio Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, Model # SJ9 will receive a firmware update that adds support for DTS-X. LG has not made any announcements with regards to that...^IFV

- Answer Yeah if you connect your streaming device to HDMI In on the SJ9 but I’d recommend connecting your Dolby Vision device which Im guessing is your Apple 4K TV, plug that into your TV so you dont get lip syncing issues.

QuestionFor movies not mixed in Atmos (so standard DTS or DD 5.1) is this soundbar worth the upgrade over a standard 5.1 set up? I have a Sony system from roughly 8-9 years ago but I'm not sure if a Atmos Soundbar would sound better. Attached is a pic of my Sony

- Answer This is a yes and a no answer. With the SJ9 model you are futureproofed, so any new shows on Netflix for example that has Atmos support will play Atmos content automatically. So yes, its worth the upgrade. For standard, no, its not worth the upgrade and your 5.1 will do just good. However, the SJ9 does both Atmos and Standard. My experience; I spend about 2 hours searching for Atmos content when I got this sound bar and sub. The Atmos experience is just mind blowing! I'm comparing this to a 3 year old, $7,000 home surround setup that does not have Atmos. - Hope this helps :)

- Answer The LG - 5.1.2-Channel Hi-Res Audio Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Dolby Atmos - Black, Model # SJ9 can be paired with other Bluetooth enabled devices to receive audio streamed via Bluetooth, it does not transmit Bluetooth signals so you cannot pair it to your headphones to listen to audio from the SoundBar...^IFV

QuestionCan I use the sj9 sound bar to play directly music playlists from my iPhone and if so,how?

- Answer Yes, it is easy. Click the "F" button on the included remote control (or on the back of the soundbar) until "BT" shows on the soundbar's digital display. (The F button chooses the input source for the soundbar.) Then on your iPhone, go to Settings>Bluetooth and click on "LG SJ9" under the My Devices heading when the iPhone discovers it. When the iPhone says "Connected" for the LG SJ9, you will see "Paired" on the soundbar display. Then open your playlist or other music app on your iPhone, including Pandora, etc., and press its play button. You can choose any of the 5 sound effects and change the bass, treble, and subwoofer settings from the soundbar remote control, too.

Questionwould this work with my LG 60UF7300? I dont think my TV supports ATMOS. If it does not, is it worth buying this product to go with it?

- Answer Most tvs don't have Atmos support at this time. You have to hook it up using arc from the tv to the sound bar. Do not use optical if you want Atmos, it cannot do the higher levels of dolby. There are few source materials at this time that have atmos . 4k bluray is one of the few and it should say on the back if it has Atmos . The sound bar has great sound and in my opinion is worth the extra money even if you don't get atmos most the time.

QuestionIve the 55E7P and the SJ9. Ive been having trouble trying to get Atmos to work on the bar. In the Dolby app when I play a video with tv's speakers on the upper right corner, atmos and vision will appear, but atmos will never appear on ARC or opt. help me?

- Answer I had the same issue at the beginning. First at the moment only VUDU and external UHD player may give you Dolby Atmos, second, make sure you did configure the soundbar link to the TV, should be via Menu, General , SIMPLINK. Once you have done the pair between TV and Soundbar you should be able to get ATMOS out of TV for VUDU. Please note that Netflix and Amazon apps won't pass the ATMOS bitstream to the SJ9 unless your TV is ATMOS compatible. Hope this helped

QuestionMy sj9 sub keeps cutting in and out. Is there any reason for this? It's right next to the couch about 15 ft from the soundbar.

- Answer This is quite the issue to troubleshoot and an annyoying one at that! First look for any locations closer and would have decent line of sight to the bar for trouble shooting purposes. Bluetooth annoyingly is on the 2.4 ghz band so cell phones and other electronics could be interferring this can be reduced by distance closing. Second get the LG music flow app and make sure firmware is up to date. This could shore up any problems with the talking that occurs between bar and woofer. If nothing is helping look for any electronics that could interfere cell phones computer connected to WiFi etc. If none of this works then it's simply going out. It is possible to buy replacement parts and sync them up if you are interested/invested enough to do so. Best of luck!

QuestionHi, i have a xbox one x and a lg oled b6, do games play in full 4k still while the soundbar is attached? It seems that the picture quality goes to to 1080p while the the sound is coming through the sound bar.

- Answer I have a Xbox One X and a Vizio 4k TV with the LG Sound bar. I have the TV connected to the sound bar through the HDMI with ARC. I have the Xbox One X connected to the sound bar through its other HDMI input which has 4K pass through. Everything works fine and I am getting 4k games fine. I play Forza 7 and it is amazing.

- Answer Though no longer readily available, the LG music flow H3 and H5 speakers CAN be added wirelessly to function as rear speakers. They would not be Atmos speakers since the atmos audio is up firing from the front, but they would be rear speakers similar to what you have with a standard 5.1 system.

- Answer I found the remote setting “Night”caused a drop in sound quality losing bass especially. Make sure night setting is off and that bass level and treble are set to 5 or more. Subwoofer set to 6. I get great sound quality since understanding the night setting was off and I use either movie or bass blast as my sound setting.
