I have a vizio tv which has a setting in the audio menu to select surround sound as your audio source so when the tv is turned on the surround sound automatically comes on too. I would look in your tv’s menu for a similar setting. My tv remote controls the volume for the surround sound as well. However, if I want to change surround sound settings i.e. subwoofer volume or sound profile from cinema to music I have to use the surround sound remote for that.
