It is radio frequency, not wi-fi. So it will not interfere. It uses a different frequency that is outside of wi-fi. It does not have to be line of sight. Just like Roku and other newer remotes use radio frequency to communicate to the set-top box. By not using Wi-Fi it doesn't interfere with other devices in the house. The pairing is done automatically when you turn it on. There are no steps to take.
