If you're looking for the best audio quality, HDMI is your choice. While an optical cable can still pass surround sound and super high-quality audio, thanks to the added bandwidth in the latest 2.1 version HDMI, you'll be able to pass higher resolution and audio. ^Daphane
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nobody in their right mind should ever be using an optical connection for the type of tv you and I have. Grab yourself a nice and cheap HDMI 2.1 cable and plug that bad boy in, just make sure you enable earc in your tv settings first. If you use an optical connection, you'll be missing out on Dolby Atmos content and higher quality audio content. Do a little research on your own and you will see the benefits of this method.
