Perfect for the LG C1 55” Only for LG ecosystem.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost, I don’t understand why this product got the rating it did. Honestly, this is a phenomenal sound bar and this product isn’t even LG 2021 flagship and yet they NAILED IT. This soundbar is the perfect pairing to the 2021 LG OLED lineup especially the 55” LG C1. My setup is currently in a small/medium sized room, which to my ears is a perfect match. A little back story: My previous soundbar was the Samsung HW-N850 which was tuned by Harmon Kardon. Now I had that soundbar since 2018 and the bass and subwoofer shook my whole room and gave me that immersive ness chill. However, when I bought my LG C1 55”. There was a huge input lag/ jutter/ clipping issue it was nauseating. And what’s worse was watch 4K ultra DVDs there was no communication with the soundbar and TV it was horrendous. So I decided to upgrade- though the Samsung bar was spectacular which was my standard. The product: LGSP9YA is the steak to the LG C1’s red wine…… the sound is this juicy/crisp/ delicious to the ears and the TV is an astonishing ruby red marvel to the eyes to behold thus a perfect pairing. Features: Dolby Atmos/ DTS-X/Meridian Audio Technology/ Airplay 2/ Bluetooth 5.0/ HDMI 2.1 in and HDMI 2.1 out w/ e-ARC support/ total 520Watts of power/ 5.1.2 system/ Hi-Res Audio compatibility/ Spotify connect/ Alexa & Hey Google Support Audio Quality: (Broken down in parts Music/ Movie/ Dialogue) First and Foremost: it’s a MUST to do the AI room calibration in the LG soundbar app to properly analyze your room to maximize the sound signature. 1) Music: streamed via Airplay 2 using Apple Music and Bluetooth. -Airplay 2 using Apple Music streams a lossless CD Quality of 16bit/ 44.1k at the moment. Pending update for Hi Res support of 24bit/ 48k is in the works via Apple. This is where I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the sound quality of the soundbar. Using Airplay 2 connected via Wifi- you’re able to stream at a higher Quality, compared to a lossy Bluetooth stream. I tested vocals/ instrumentals the sounstage was open and to my ears it sounded sweetly crisp. Female vocals like Whitney Houston/ Celine Dion and male vocals like Andrea bocelli/ Luther Vandross was elegant/ powerful and graceful and never got sibilant to me. Guitar riffs from Santana/ Slash/ Price/ Jimi Hendrix sounded lively and upbeat it was like being in a concert. Now the feature that aided in this is the AI Sound Pro that tweaks the soundbar perfect to what you’re listening too. I wasn’t expecting less because Meridian is partnered with LG. Meridian Audio is HiFi company that’s partnered with car companies Jaguar/ Land Rover and Kia. The audio company can spar with Bowers & Wilkins, Burmester/ Mark Levingston/ Krell/ McIntosh/ Focal/Revel just to name a few. - Bluetooth 5.0: It can pair to 2 devices which is quick and easy but it’ll be a lossy signal a codec will be AAC no APT-X or APT-XHD sorry android users. It sounds good but not better than streaming Wifi. - Odd Factor: USB drive with FLAC or Hi-Res Files that can play 24bit/192 which this bar apparently can handle which I haven’t Tested. But judging from a mere 16bit/44.1k CD Quality wifi stream can do I can only image how it’ll sound at its fullest potential. Movies: Ok I’m no sound engineer so In better terms I would redirect to you RTINGS & Digital Trends review Of the product they explain the Mechanics of Dolby Atmos/ DTS-X and the surround features it does and overall sound signature. But for my ears with the AI room calibration is was immersive for 520W, watching shows on Disney+, Netflix that supports Dolby Atmos was spectacular to the ears. Playing 4K ultra DVDs in Dolby Atmos was INCREDIBLE and I HAD NO SYNC ISSUES or input lag…. Dialogue: the center channel is perfect. Bar features clear sound pro that focuses in on spoken word and in the LG soundbar app it was a night mode where it placed more emphasis on dialogue. Now, it’s a MUST to purchase a high speed HDMI 2.1 cable I recommend Audioquest Carbon 48. YES CABLES MATTER. don’t cheap out. Features: This soundbar is truly loaded with some much and it’s guaranteed future proofing for about 8-10 years. The dimensions is the product of perfect for the 55 inch LG C1 OLED while having a TV STAND not wall mounted. Overall, I would re-purchase this again and whole heartedly recommend it. FYI, I was considering the Sonos Arc/ Sub combo before this since it has gotten high praise. BUT THE MAJOR factor is the seamless integration it has with the LG C1. Since it’s part of the LG ecosystem it just fitted so right with the TV. And you can maximize its fullest potentials well. HOWEVER, everyone’s needs/ ears and priorities are different. I know there are other sound bars that can blow this out of the water. But the LG SP9YA deserves it praise! There’s so much potential that you just need to give it chance!

Surprisingly good bang for the buck!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great deal for some pretty great sound overall. Bought mine as an open box deal which made the price pretty amazing. While it’s not quite at the same level as the Bose 900 sound bar and Bose 700 base module, The sound bar/subwoofer combo does give you some pretty serious bang for the buck. Found myself being pleasantly surprised multiple times as I tested the system, including being surprised by just how much bass could come out of a small subwoofer like this one. Overall, this is a system you can feel good about and honestly be proud of owning.

Pretty good sounding soundbar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to give this soundbar 5 stars but there are a few things that keep it from being 5. I am pairing it with an LG CX Oled and setup was a breeze and the app is quite easy to use as well. First this I noticed after setup: My tv is on its stand, not mounted, so the soundbar does cover about a half inch of the bottom of the screen. Not really a deal breaker, but LG should have thought about their design a little better to make sure these two would work together. Second thing I noticed that’s really annoying to me is the soundbar always shows the input on its little led screen and that light never turns off! So I’m always looking at “E-ARC” whenever watching a movie in a dark room. Hopefully this can be fixed with a firmware update. As far as sound goes, anything Dolby atmos sounds amazing. It really deserves 5 stars. On other content Dolby 5.1 or just watching cable TV, the sound varies from great to just ok. Voices definitely sound clearer but there is some background sound that I feel is lost when compared to the tv speakers. There were times when I felt the tv speakers sounded better and times when the soundbar definitely sounded better, it really depends on what your watching. Subwoofer is loud enough but not ridiculously bassy, which is fine with me since I live in an apartment and don’t want complaints from the neighbors. Overall, a good soundbar that I’m probably going to keep, but it didn’t blow me away (other than with atmos content)!

Excellent Sound with no visible cables
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is excellent. The base woofer can be separated about 15 feet (behind a sofa) without losing connection or about 20 with no intervening obstruction. We purchased a device to hang the sound bar directly under our new TV. Both are black, The result is that the sound bar is unobtrusive. We previously had the sound cabled to large speakers and the sound was superior. But my wife wanted the speakers and cables "out of the living room" so we switched to the sound bar. Sound is not quite as fantastic as large, high quality 9expensive) speakers, but it is, nonetheless, excellent.

Amazing Sound from the SP9YA
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LG SP9YA 5.1.2 soundbar looks modern and sounds fantastic, I have an LG TV and they function well together, I can control both with one remote. I think if you have an HDMI arc TV it will work well too. The 520 watts sound superb, I turned only the soundbar and it sounds amazing even at max volume and the sound does not get distorted, once the subwoofer is turned on, then the sound is complete. I can hear different sounds from all over the room; this is how good the speaker is. The soundbar has different sound modes and each have a different setting for best sound, speaking of sound, the soundbar can be calibrated to make the room sound even better. I usually just have the AI Sound Pro so it knows how to adapt for the scene. The one thing I like the most is the connectivity, can use my assistant and play music from Spotify without the TV being on or my phone. I will get the rear speakers at a later date but for now it sounds great.

Great Quality and Clarity. Lacking Bass.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this soundbar expecting outstanding performance, especially since before I spent no more than $200 on a soundbar/system. The Atmos mode is out of this world, amazing, for media that supports it, it really charges this soundbar to another level. But if you love wall vibrating, body feeling-type of bass, you aren't getting it with this system. I'm a bass lover myself and find myself disappointed with the bass performance of this system. You can still get decent, punchy bass, and with Atmos mode, it does a lot better. But for normal content and music, the bass didn't satisfy me. Although I will say, it's not non-existent, and essentially the bass does good enough where I'm disappointed but not enough to return it, it still does the job pretty good. Also the rear speakers (SPK8-S) are A MUST HAVE. They are sold separately but are worth it. Took me a bit of time to tinker with settings of my devices to take advantage of it, but the surround sound definitely brings more immersion and slightly additional bass as well. For being a bass-head, I want more bass, but I'm keeping this system + rear speakers. It still does a great job, even with my media room being a decent size room. If you are a bass-head and happen to get this system, I suggest putting it on music mode, and max out all equalizer settings via app or remote that controls soundbar; I find those settings to fulfill my bass needs. Overall, great performance and quality, nice smart tech in it (although the ai-stuff I didn't find much use of) so you can easily play stuff from different sources. The one and only downside I've experienced is the bass is kind of lacking. But other than that, I'm still having a good experience with the soundbar system and I'd say it's worth it WITH rear speakers as well.

Loving our new sound bar
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace an aging 7.1 surround receiver and speakers. Although this is not a true surround system, the way it is designed it does an excellent job simulating surround. Sound quality is excellent. Installed with an LG TV and install and setup was quick and easy. Just a side note the sound bar is rather long so check your available space before purchasing.

Q: QuestionWhat is difference between LGSP8ya and LG SP9ya sound bars
Asked by Ivan.
- A:Answer SP9YA is a step up from the SP8YA. It is recommended for TVs 55" and up ↑. The total output power is 520W in comparison to 440W. It offers 5.1.2 channel audio in comparison to 3.1.2. Please see the link for a side by side comparison of available specifications for both Soundbars, https://www.lg.com/us/compare?bizType=B2C. ^Daphane

Q: QuestionPlease tell me there’s some way to turn off the display. Even dimmed, it’s way too bright and distracts from what you are watching. I’m not going to put tape over it - there’s no reason for it to have to constantly remind you that e-arc is selected.
Asked by R5Ryder.
- A:Answer No. I put mine behind my tv and it sounds great.

Q: QuestionHas anyone had issues with the subwoofer not connecting? I recently bought the setup and it was working fine. Now all of a sudden, the sub doesn’t want to connect. I’ve tried all the suggested fixes and called LG support, but nothing has resolved this.
Asked by chrgue0213.
- A:Answer Had that happen at first too. Just unplug it and plug it back in. It should automatically connect when you have the soundbar on.

Q: QuestionIs this soundbar worth it for an LG OLED E8 TV?
Asked by Vermonter.
- A:Answer This is a good soundbar. The volume is not as loud with ARC, so I am using the Optical cable and its plenty load with good bass for a normal size living room. I'd like to hear the setup with a tv with EARC though. I would be disappointed in volume if it is similar to arc, but assuming EARC is configured for it better. And, I may need to configure it to work properly with an older Samsung ARC tv when I find time to do so. From what I have researched it is optimal to have a Lg tv with an LG soundbar and I am looking to pair with an LG tv, even though I will not get Spectrum app with the tv apps.

Q: QuestionBest way to hook up to a LG oled c1 tv? Optical or hdmi earc or usb? Heard both ways were best by different people...Looking at this or a wisa 5.1 believe it connects through axim usb but don't think it supports Dolby. What else can use earc for?
Asked by Aaron.
- A:Answer If you're looking for the best audio quality, HDMI is your choice. While an optical cable can still pass surround sound and super high-quality audio, thanks to the added bandwidth in the latest 2.1 version HDMI, you'll be able to pass higher resolution and audio. ^Daphane
