• Sub does nothing besides if put your hand on it can feel lil something. Soundbar was lacking till got settings on tv just right for it.

• Yes you can buy it without the sub woofer, and yes you can use this system without the subwoofer. I researched both models, and this one is the better of the two. Great aound with either the TV, or just music playing
