Our DIRECTV remote does not work with the sound bar. We still have to use the sound bar remote to adjust the sound.

While mixing brands works perfectly for audio, matching the brand can offer benefits like using one remote for both devices and advanced, integrated features. The most important factor is having a matching port. HDMI ARC/eARC is the preferred method for superior sound and control, while Optical is best for older TVs. Using the same brand (e.g., an LG TV with an LG soundbar) can unlock proprietary features like WOW Orchestra, which enhances the soundstage when used with an LG TV Mixing brands (e.g., an LG soundbar with a Visio TV) will not negatively impact sound quality, though you may lose out on some CEC-related convenience features. Universal Compatibility: Almost all soundbars are designed to work with any television, from new 4K models to older sets. Connectivity for the LG 5.1-Channel S60TR Home Theater Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer and Rear Speakers, Dolby Audio - Black, Model # S60TR, includes Bluetooth connectivity, an HDMI ARC port, and an Optical Digital Audio Input. What type of remote is your Dish TV remote? Is it a universal remote that can control a wide range of audio systems, including most major brands of soundbars? .The Dish Hopper (52.0, 54.0, or 54.1 models) and many older Dish remotes are designed with a "universal" function that can be programmed to manage soundbar volume and mute, in addition to controlling the television and satellite receiver. You will need to contact Dish TV to inquire what type of remote you have...^Ivan.
