It uses an impeller which is a low profile plate located in the bottom of the tub that has replaced the agitator. IT creates turbulent currents in the wash water as the impeller rotates which with the clothes in the tub provide the mechanical motion that cleans your clothes that is much gentler than an agitator. In theory, the vanes on the impeller do not make any physical contact with the clothes...^IFV

• There is no real agitator like the older style top loads so there is no issue with this.

• This washer does not have a middle agitator. The bottom moves while the side of the washer goes in another direction. Will not damage your clothes.
