There isn't much heat generated from this set, not like the older back-lit LED panels. My old LG ran quite warm, but this runs very cool.
The best way to determine if you need to cut a hole in the back of the cabinet is to set it in there and run it for an hour. Check the temperature- if it's just a little higher than ambient, you should be OK. If it feels too warm, then cut your hole in the cabinet.
A:AnswerThe stand is heavy and almost the same length of the tv. I do not feel this tv would be likely to fall over. I believe you could probably secure it with a strap on the back side if you feel the need to do so.

That being said, this TV does have great sound output for a TV. Better than some premium panels I've had in the past.
But you cannot compare tv speakers to dedicated sound systems, as they are completely different.
