Yes, press the mute button on the remote control 3 times rapidly , you will then see a menu, shake the remote for the cursor to pop up then scroll to the bottom of the list and then turn off no signal image. This will allow for a black screen without any images. Unfortunately, this unit is not equipped to use customized frames. ~Tanisha
