This TV makes the 1080p and the 720 look better.

Please try again later.When you watch real 4K video (i.e. video with the same 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution as the LG 4K UHD HDR Smart LED TV - 55" Class (54.6" Diag), Model # 55UH615A, you may well be able to see additional detail. The TV does not have to work to display that content in its native resolution. When watching content in 1,920x1,080 (1080i or 1080p) or 1,280x720 (720p), both of which have far fewer pixels than 4K, the TV could improve the picture a bit when the upscaling is done right and can add to the perceived detail of the image, but you'll have to look pretty hard, and sit pretty close, to see the difference. Standard-definition uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high-definition or enhanced-definition television (EDTV 480p) and uses a resolution of 480i which has an aspect ratio of 4:3 so you will get cropping. Video upscaling is a process that mathematically matches the pixel count of the output of a standard or non-hi-def signal (such as standard DVD) to the physical pixel count on an HDTV. It does not magically convert a lower resolution to a higher resolution. In other words, an image that is upscaled to a higher resolution will not look the same as an image that is native to that higher resolution in the first place. Also, with upscaling, another thing to take into consideration is that although it is designed to improve image quality from lower resolution video signals, if that signal contains additional embedded artifacts, such as excessive video noise, poor color, harsh edges, or is otherwise unstable, a video upscaling processor may actually make the image look worse, especially when displayed on large screens, as defects already present in the source signal are magnified, along the with rest of the image. In practical terms, what this means is that while upscaling DVD and DVD-quality sources to 4K can look pretty good, upscaling poor signal sources, such as VHS (especially recordings made in the EP speed, analog cable, or low resolution streaming content) can deliver mixed results...^IFV
