I think IFV's reply is unnecessarily verbose. The answer, more simply, is that you don't NEED the Amazon Fire stick or similar streaming add-on devices, as they are built into the TV. However, in some instances (such as HBO Max), these other devices may add other services or capabilities that the TV doesn't already have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Amazon Firestick is a piece of hardware that allows streaming of movies, TV shows, and videos of various genre. The cost of purchasing the stick is the cost of the hardware. While it allows them to be seen, many providers of those videos, movies and TV shows charge for viewing of their libraries. Although there are free channels, the most popular such as Netflix, HULU, HBO. Showtime ,and many of the Cable apps, (assuming you don’t have a cable subscription that includes them), charge a monthly subscription fee. The Amazon Prime Video app on the LG NanoCell 85 Series 2020 55 inch Class 4K Smart UHD NanoCell TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # 55NANO85UNA is slightly different in that their subscription fee allows you to view the Amazon movie and TV library (Amazon Prime Video). In short, Amazon Prime Video is exactly what the name states… “ Amazon Prime Video” .An Amazon Fire TV Stick is A media player that provides Amazon Prime Videos IF you have an Amazon Prime Subscription or you can rent or purchase single movies . You can also download HBO ,Hulu ,And The Netflix Apps but a subscription is required. You do not have to have a Prime account to use the Fire TV stick as you can use it to access other services as well ( Netflix, Disney + etc)...^IFV
