“Do I have to use the included stand or is it okay to just use without?”

Hi SGray. If you are going to mount the LG 55 Inch Class UQ7570 PUJ series LED 4K UHD Smart webOS 22 TV, Model # 55UQ7570PUJ on your wall,you do not have to attach the stand legs for the TV, but if you intend to place it on a TV stand then you will need to attach the stand legs on the TV. It will not stand on its own without the stand legs...^Ivan

It will not stand up on without a stand. It would take a wall mount or leaning against something.

Depends what you're hoping to do. If you just want to set it on a table or something, you'll need to use the stand legs that come with it. If you want to mount it on a wall though, you don't need to attach them and you can just use a wall mount (that's what we did)
