• No it is not but i suggest not sliding them back and forth on the glass.

• It is not necessary to purchase new cookware. You will need to avoid using cookware that has a curved or warped bottom, don't use a wok with a ring stand. Cookware should have flat bottoms that make good contact with the entire surface heating element. ^CP
