I bake on the lower temperature for dark or non stick pans, when checking for doneness I spin the pan as the side closest to the fan does seem to brown quicker but I think the trick is the lower temperature. The edge of the stove top does get warm, I haven't found it to be much of an issue.

Lg came and so did pc richard’s and both say this is normal . This is dangerous and needs to be recalled or a class action suit . I am hoping they will take it back !!! And after reading reviews now that i did not find when researching this stove before I purchased it , I will not buy another LG. Hopefully Going back to the GE !!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is an oven vent just above the cooktop below the rearguard that the oven control pad is on the LG 6.3 cu. ft. Single Oven Electric Range with EasyClean®, MOdel # LRE3061ST and on page 27 in your owner's manual is cautions that "Areas near the vent may become hot during operation and may cause burns. Do not block the vent opening. Avoid placing plastics near the vent as heat may distort or melt the plastic. It is normal for steam to be visible when cooking."...^IFV foods with high moisture content
