Your LG SmartTV is basically a computer, and like a computer, they'll release updates to it's software pretty regularly.
The nice thing is that it runs the updates in the background once you opt to run them, so you can just go ahead and keep watching as normal. You won't have to sit around and wait until the update is done to be able to watch.
