• Short answer is yes it matters. The gold plated connections are what I recommend. Monster makes a great affordable hdmi

• It is best to buy a premium cable the thicker the better and cable that says it specifically for 4K should work.

• No real difference between basic hdmi cable and expensive ones. The biggest difference is how much you want to over spend for it.
