I previously owned the E7 so I can't directly comment on the E9, however, I believe the picture performance was (is) approximatley the same between those two sets. That said, I can say that the GX series is phenominal. I have had the GX 65 for nearly a month now and the picture is stunning. 4k UHD content really shines and the set is brighter than the previous generations. The new AI chip does an excellent job with upscaling any content. If you have to replace your E9, which is the set I wanted to replace my E7, then you will not go wrong with the GX! If you don't plan to wall mount it as I did, you will need to purchase the stand legs which cost about $99 on Amazon. Hope this response helps with your decision.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The obvious difference is Flush design of the GX, the E9 has DTS-HD, the GX has a faster processor- α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 4K and Google Assistant Built-in "Works with" Google Assistant. ^Daphane https://www.lg.com/us/compare?bizType=B2C
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not too many customers will have seen both. I waited a few weeks too long and didn’t get the E9 and it was suddenly gone. So we got the GX. No other option. It is very nice. I’m reminded that 4K tv’s are ahead of technology being delivered by cable companies out there. Not all content is clear and sharp. But GX is great improvement and we are satisfied. Installs are complicated so Geek Squad is a must.
