That means it has 3840 pixels horizontally by 2160 pixels vertically.To find the total number of pixels, just multiply the two numbers for a total of 8,294,400 which is 4 times the number of pixels for Full HD (i.e. 1920 x 1080 + 2,073,600) hence the 4K. 4K refers to one of two high definition resolutions: 3840 x 2160 pixels or 4096 x 2160 pixels. 4096 x 2160 option is where many films are shot or mastered in 4K by upscaling from 2K (1998 x 1080 for the 1.85:1 aspect ratio or 2048 x 858 for 2.35:1 aspect ratio).
