Yes, mine at home isn't hooked up to water and dryer works great

Yes, you can use this dryer without hooking up the water line even if you don't want to use the steam function. The dryer is designed to operate effectively in both steam and non-steam modes. If you do not connect the water line, you simply won't be able to utilize the steam functions such as Steam Fresh™ or Steam Sanitary™ cycles. You can still use all other regular drying cycles without any issues.
