Hi there, Celtic Barb! Thank you for reaching out about the LG BP50NB40 and its compatibility with your MacBook Air. The LG BP50NB40 is a Blu-ray/DVD external drive, and it should work for playing Blu-ray movies on your MacBook Air. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind: Software: Your MacBook Air will need compatible software to play Blu-ray discs. macOS doesn’t include native support for Blu-ray playback, so you may need to install third-party Blu-ray player software like Leawo Blu-ray Player or Macgo Blu-ray Player. Connection: Ensure that the external drive is properly connected to your MacBook Air using a USB port. You might need a USB-C to USB adapter if your MacBook Air only has USB-C ports. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to send us a private message on social media @LGUSSupport. We’re here to help! —Renzo
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you will need converters from USB A to USB C as well as download MAC software that plays Blu Rays. I used a trial of VIdeoByte to test and it worked just fine with a watermark which will go away once you buy the software. So far, the free software like VLC has AACS Decoding issues and to correct that is more of a pain than it's worth.
