You must be referring to a hybrid SACD because SACDs (Super Audio Compact Discs) do not have a CD layer that can be played on a DVD optical drive1. However, hybrid SACDs contain both an SACD layer and a standard CD layer, making them compatible with regular CD players1. Non-hybrid SACDs lack a CD layer and require an SACD-compatible player. 
The CD layer on a hybrid SACD is a normal 2-channel 'Redbook' CD (PCM) layer. This layer can be played on a regular CD/DVD player. The high-resolution tracks are stored in the SACD layer and can only be played on a player that supports SACD.
Red Book CD (PCM) layers will play on an optical DVD drive.
