No , this device is not a stand alone player and cannot be used to record live TV. This unit must be used to play data records or DVD video disc. For assistance with using a disc drive, please give our computer specialists a call at 800-243-0000. ^Daphane
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No to recording. Yes to the standalone player but there might be some compatibility issues depending of your tv. Also your tv will need a USB port or an adapter(usb to whatever plug type you need) and the cord for the player has 2 USB plugs to be able to supply enough energy needed. So if only 1 port on tv you will need a 5 volt USB charge base like for a cell phone and maybe an USB extension. Just be careful because not all cell phone charge bases are 5 volts. Be sure to check. And try at your own risk.
