    • Answer The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black Model # SP80NB80, can read and play smaller 3-inch (80 mm) mini CDs, but only if you use a special 8 cm disc adapter ring in the tray. The pull-out drawer on the SP80NB80 has a single molded circular indentation sized only for standard 4.7-inch (120 mm) discs. A small 3-inch disc will not snap securely onto the center spindle if you just place it loose in the oversized tray, and it cannot center itself for vertical use, so you must place the mini CD inside a snap-in 80mm-to-120mm adapter ring. This adapter expands the outer edge of the disc to standard size so the drive's internal mechanism can grip and spin it properly...^Ivan.

    • Answer Yes, when plugged into any computer it uses standard USB capabilities (no drivers needed), to connect to the computer and presents as a DVD writer to the operating system without any installation needed. However, also included in the box is a DVD with Cyberlink Media Suite included. (I haven't tried this on a Mac computer, but I have installed it on Windows computers, and if this software is installed, it may help in playing movies on DVD by providing needed video codecs and/or encryption decoding support.)
