It will collect water if you leave the included drain plug on. I leave it off and let the water drip. It may cost you a little more in electric bill because the the water collected makes the compressor more efficient. I just don't like the sound of water slushing like a washing machine when the AC is on, if you let the water collect. Also a lot of water attracts mosquitoes making a nest in your AC.

The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 13” from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. Install the unit slightly tilted so the back is slightly lower than the front (about 1/4”). This will force condensed water to flow to the outside. ^Daphane
