A:AnswerIt will collect water if you leave the included drain plug on. I leave it off and let the water drip. It may cost you a little more in electric bill because the the water collected makes the compressor more efficient. I just don't like the sound of water slushing like a washing machine when the AC is on, if you let the water collect. Also a lot of water attracts mosquitoes making a nest in your AC.

A:AnswerYou dont have to change/replace the filter. The front white panel comes off and you have the filter there. You can wipe it off with a microfiber towel or run under warm water to clean it. If you run under warm water the filter needs to be completely dry before putting back in place.
