If you don’t have a Verizon account they’ll charge you 15 a month for unlimited usage on it

The device can only be used on Verizon's network, however I do not believe that the primary guardian and/or other approved contacts have to have Verizon also (they DO have to have the app though). the watch will attempt to connect to Verizon's network as soon as it's powered on, it's uncertain if it can be rooted. There is no removable sim, but this device does ship unlocked when purchased from Best Buy. I've managed to activate it on an existing line of service wherein the wearer had Verizon and her guardian did not.

The Gizmo Gadget has been manufactured to work with the Verizon network. So to you would need to contact your provider to see if it is compatible with their network. ^CP
