  • QuestionDoes the fan continuously run or does it shut off when the desired humidity level is reached?

    • Answer I don’t think the LGanswers answer is correct. I asked this question on another website and 4 people said the fan does NOT run continuously. It will totally shut down when the RH it is set to is reached. The fan MAY run a couple of minutes after the compressor shuts off, but that is different than running continuously. LG should be sure their answer is correct because if the fan runs continuously, that’s a deal breaker for me. That simply doesn’t make sense. It seemed people who answered this same question in 2020 said it DID run continuously. Maybe LG updated their control board. What say you, LG?

  • QuestionI want to buy a dehumidifier with internal pump than does not require the collection tank be filled before it begins pumping. i would like it to a 50 pint model. Can you recommend one.

    • Answer Just something to think about.....the water from a dehumidifier fills the bucket a little bit at a time. The reason the pump isn’t activated until the bucket is mostly full is there wouldn’t be enough water to pump out when the dehumidifier first starts drawing moisture from the air. If you want it to drain continuously you should put it where you can just hook a hose up to it and run it to a drain. If your situation REQUIRES you pump it out then you’ll have to accept a built in pump can’t work until there’s enough water in the tank to pump out.

    • Answer No, the unit cannot be turned on/off remotely. The Timer function turns the product off automatically after a set time. ^Daphane

  • QuestionCan this unit be set to go on for eight (8) hours a day every day. If it can will it restart the pump. Does the wi-fi capability allow for a set schedule of operation on a daily/weekly planned program; as with smart thermostats.

    • Answer The Timer button for the LG PuriCare 2019 Energy Star 50-Pint Dehumidifier with Built-In Vertical Pump and Wi-Fi in Black - Black, Model # UD501KOJ5 sets a a time for the product to automatically turn off. The button can be pressed repeatedly to increase the time until shutoff in 1-hour increments up to 12 hours. After 23 hours of continuous operation, the red Safety Standby light turns on for one hour and the fan and compressor shut off to prevent product malfunction. After an hour with the fan and compressor shut off, the Safety Standby light turns off and the fan and compressor automatically restart. With the LG ThinQ app, you can control the dehumidifier from anywhere using your smartphone, the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. The app does not have have a scheduled daily/weekly planned program...^IFV

  • QuestionI have a condo in Florida to which am absent in summer. There are occasional power outages so I want to know if humidifier restarts does pump also restart as I drain water up into my sink. Can I control pump and motor with WiFi?

    • Answer Hi Rod. The LG PuriCare 2019 Energy Star 50-Pint Dehumidifier with Built-In Vertical Pump and Wi-Fi in Black, Model # UD501KOJ5 cannot be operated continuously for more than 23 hours. After 23 hours of continuous operation, the compressor automatically shuts off for one hour to prevent product damage. The compressor will restart after one hour. This Safety Standby function is normal. The unit does have an Auto Restart mode that will turn the unit back on after a power outage. The built-in drain pump that allows for continuous water drainage directly into a sink, out a window or down a drain will not restart when the dehumidifier restarts after a power outage. That is something that you will need to control remotely from your smartphone. With WiFi capability you can expand the limits of your dehumidifier using the LG SmartThinQ app. Start or stop the dehumidifier, monitor bucket capacity and get notifications all from your smartphone. The appliance supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. You can use 'Settings' in the application to manage the product or the application settings...^IFV
