The LG BP300 comes with Nero Media Home essentials for PC & Mac. I have been able to stream movies from my external HD and my NAS (like yours) via my computer to the player with relative easy setup. Some drives have built-in media sharing (I have a Western Digital that can serve media directly but it's cumbersome) so it can work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I set up wifi using a Netgear WNDR3700 router with SSID & WPA2-PSK [AES] security but there were a number of options available for connection. As long as your drive can "find" the LG device when it searches for an available connection, even if you have to hand code the MAC address, streaming should be possible.
