It plays all my Blue Rays, DVD's and CD's so far. I was able to remove the DVD and CD player from my cabinet and replace it with this one unit. And this one is smaller too. Haven't tried everything on it yet, but so far I'm impressed.

We needed a disc player and media streamer for our living room TV. We don't normally watch TV in the living room (we do so in our bedroom or in the "famblee room"). Since it is not used all the time, and no game systems are present in the living room, we just wanted to have an inexpensive player that also did wifi and streaming.
We looked at all the "least expensive" small players and weeded out those that were not "smart" (streaming enabled) and those that were not wifi enabled. Since those two criteria cut the inexpensive players list down to about 4 units, we thought we'd chance the LG because it had a great price and the brand has a reasonable reputation.
It seemed to offer wifi, streaming apps, and the ability to play Blu-Ray as well as most DVD-type discs. It does the disc playing thing quite well. The streaming works fine once you set it up. The apps are a little slow to run, and using the remote to navigate isn't intuitive at first. There are few apps.
We were hoping for Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, and a bunch of others. It does not have Amazon's streaming player application. It doesn't look like there is a way to shop for and download "new" apps.
As with any networked streaming device, you have to know how your home network works, you have to have rudimentary knowledge of how to hook up a device to a wifi router/AP, and you have to know a little about how streaming apps work. Just remember this: you want to do all your "account setup" for your streaming (such as Netflix) already done before you set up this device. You'll also need a computer handy to look for help if you aren't sure about what to do.
Just remember: it doesn't come with an HDMI cable: you'll need to buy one. If your TV does not support HDMI input, you'll have to explore your options. Most modern LCD/LED/Plasma TVS and modern laptops have an HDMI port these days.
Overall, it's a great player. we're VERY happy with it. And the price was less than a 6th of a PS3 or a high-end disc player. Good job, LG!

I love this player. It is my first Blu-Ray (I know I'm a bit behind the times here) It was super easy to set up and the bonus of my tv also being LG is that when you turn on player it automatically syncs up w tv so you don't have to mess w changing input on remote control. Picture quality is fantastic, and the sound...you really do hear things you probably missed w DVD. I have to admit I was sceptical about how much better Blu-Ray really is. This was a great price for all the functions on this player, a lot at this price point need a separate connection for internet. I love the apps on this thing too! I mostly use Pandora, this actually saved me from buying satellite radio for the house. If you've been thinking about Blu-Ray I highly recommend this player.

Got it on sale. Amazing that at one time a blue ray player cost close to a grand and now they can be had for close to fifty bucks AND be feature packed and perform great. Plays all of my DVD's and Blue Rays flawlessly. Set up can be tricky since the manual is too general and does not go into any real depth of explanation. I basically had to try different settings to find what I liked which may not be the same as for other people. For me the remote is sometimes clumsy but all of LG's remotes are because of my big fat fingers. I can use my LG TV's remote to play any DVD's if I want but to change any settings or use any of the Blue Ray players features, then I have to use the Blue Ray players remote (same thing with my LG sound bar). Since I have a smart TV I don't use the smart features of the Blue Ray player so I can not rate them. Great bang for my buck for a bedroom Blue Ray player. I feel this unit would also work even better with my main system in my living room since my AV receiver has spectacular video processors. This player would also be good for a family room. Once set up I think it would be child and Luddite friendly LOL. Even if the unit gets destroyed by kids it is cheap enough you can go and get another. Picture quality is excellent, the sound goes through my sound bar so I cannot comment on the un processed sound. Bottom line is you get a lot for your money and if you run this through higher end A/V receiver you will never know it is an entry level bargain basement Blue Ray player. One word though, don't lose the remote since using the buttons on the unit can be a pain (but this is true of all my audio visual equipment whether cheap or expensive). As for load time... I am okay with it, it depends on if you are changing a disc or powering everything up of course.
I have not used the Wi-Fi because the smart TV has it already set up and I can control everything with the TV's remote. Does not matter if I am viewing a Blue Ray or standard DVD disc the picture is spectacular. The only down side to the HD is that now I can see how bad the actors skin is (that is the only benefit of low definition). I can not comment if the player works well with other brands since all my bedroom equipment is LG but it should as long as you have newer ARC compatable equipment you should be OK but you end result will only be as good as what you are viewing it on... for example if you are using an old CRT TV you will not see what this player can truly do.

I was looking for a blu ray player to use until next year. Saw this open box unit, bought the 2yr plan, and went home. Easy to set up, get connected and watch BLU RAY movies. Was able to quickly navigate to use NetFlix and Pandora. WOW, great fun! Thank you LG and BESTBUY.

Transitioning from a high end recordable DVD player to this LG Blu-Ray was a major upgrade. It's 1/3 the size and has so much more functionality with WIFI connectivity to watch YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc. What an awesome feature ( that I knew nothing about)! Not to mention the amazing picture quality!

Easy set up. Didn't even need the instructions. Works awesome with Netflix and Pandora. Plays both DVD and Bluray discs easily. I was pretty skeptical about getting a wifi bluray but they've come a long way.

This player was easy to set up and easy to learn to use. It's small size set right under my set and almost disappears. The picture is great and I can't wait to watch more movies on it.
A:AnswerClosed captioning is generally handeled through your TV set, I have not seen this function on a Blu Ray player. Hope this helps. You may try the manufactors website to check as well.
A:AnswerHello Anonymous, thanks for your interest in the LG 3D, Smart, Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player.
Not all content streams at the same rate because movies, audio files etc., are not all the same size. When Netflix streams content to you, your router's speed will have a lot to do with the quality of the movie and with the quality of the audio portion being streamed. I am not sure I understand your statement when you say "although if you try Netflix first DVD will lose sound." Are you talking about a DVD or streaming a movie from NetFlix? Generally, if you look at the size of the file to be streamed, you will notice that they are all different. If your router is inadequate, you'll have issues with larger files being streamed properly. That's why some movies stream okay and others do not. IFV
A:AnswerHello Anonymous,
Thanks for your interest in the Smart, Wi-Fi, Built-In Blu-ray player. The model number for the unit in question is the BP330, it appears you have a typo in your model number. In answer to your question, No! There are no Blu-Ray players out in the market right now that I am aware of that have a recording feature in them so you are not able to record at all. At least not in the conventional way! Why not just use the DVD player or the CD player on your computer along with some software to record and convert those into MP3s that you can then transfer to your MP3 player if the DRM lets you? IFV
A:AnswerI don't know if this will work in other regions but the quality is not what I expected so I would look for one that is higher quality and not bargain priced. If you contact Best Buy they have always given me great advice about products. This I bought because of the price which is not something I typically do.
A:AnswerIt's likely the machine has died on you. It happens. I had a great 5 disc DVD player for maybe 5 years and loved it... but just stopped working. It was time for me to move to BluRay anyway. You should still be able to use Netflix and/or USB movies on this though. You could try a DVD cleaner though as a last option to clean the laser. About $10-15 at BestBuy.
