• Can be wired either way. I used a plug in connection after attaching power cable.

• You need to get a plug for it and attach it. I believe it gives you the option to do either.

• I forgot to mention. it can be hard wired direct to romex. if you want to plug in the hookup kit comes with an appliance cord with bare ends on one side and a plug on the other. but the unit only comes with a power pigtails inside a small junction box on the bottom of the unit. you have to wire nut power to the unit
