The height of the counter top is 36"? I just installed this dishwasher with the same counter top height and had about 1/4" of clearance on top. It does fit snug, but looking at your question it would not mean the counter top would be 1/4" thick. Go to best buy and measure for yourself if you are worried about fitment, that way you know for sure.
