• No. Modern, high efficiency washing machines do not use agitators. They the bottom of the drum rotates independently of the rest of the drum and rubs the clothes against each other and the plastic on the bottom to achieve the same effect while the rest of the drum is designed to move the clothes from the top to the bottom so everything gets washed. In doing so, they use about 1/3 the amount of water, saving you money.

• No, it does not have an agitator. I worried about that, but this machine cleans great. We have not had any issues. Be sure to pre-treat stains, as with any washer, and don't use too much detergent.
