Honestly I wouldn't know the difference other than the size loads I'm able to do now verses when I had the smaller barrel size. It's really doing 2 loads in one cycle so less washing time which is great. I say go bigger! Washing blankets and large towels, pillow, and large bath mats makes all the difference.
