you set the region code when you attach it. it works just like any player/burner. there is plenty of software, like ANYDVD, to get around this for other region dvds.

Please try again later.I haven't tried to play other region dvds yet, but I would say that your laptop will have issue with other region dvds rather than the dvd player itself. You can change the region that your laptop will play a few times and then it will lock on the last region. Try the VLC Media player to play different region dvds. That worked for me in the past.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can tell you from my experience that i had to download vlc media player and then play my dvd through that since i have a dvd from uk format, however it took forever toad but it did eventually play so technically the answer is yes
