The sound is very loud, or very soft - it doesn't have a strong mid-level range of volume. But you can crank it up fairly loud, and if you are using ear buds or headphones, it has excellent sound from it's headphone / microphone jack. Reportedly this is one of the best sounding wired phones still in production, since Apple discarded the headphone jack.
