- Answer If you enlarge the picture of the front of the switch — ONLY Ports 1 -4 are POE — NOT all 8!!!

QuestionFor PoE to work does the Line In from the router need to go to one of the 4 PoE ports, leaving only 3 powered ports? Or can the Line In go to one of the non-PoE ports?

- Answer Hi, Knight701. The Linksys LGS108P has an AC port at the back to connect a power supply that provides power to the PoE ports.

- Answer Hi, brharding. Our Linksys LGS108P is an unmanaged switch that has no DNS feature, and no firewall capabilities, unlike routers.

QuestionI have a long cat5e run (400+ feet) that doesn't work reliably so I want to try putting a repeater in the middle. So I want to use PoE feature of this switch. I guess I want one of these in middle, but do I need another to go at one end to get PoE?

- Answer Hi, bkerin. If you want to use the PoE ports on the switch, you would need to connect another PoE device at the other end of the Ethernet cable to deliver both data and power.

QuestionI notice that it has rubber feet. Does this switch (LGS108P) have the capability to be wall-mounted (ie. is the back plate designed in such a way that it will hang against the wall with a couple of screws), or is it strictly a desktop ONLY device?

QuestionWe do not have any internet at all where we live, which is on the city. We want to get internet because we just got a Roku Ultra, but we feel it would cost less to get a wired Ethernet unit. On a fixed income, Is wired or Ethernet the way to go?
