Hi, PeterB. Our Linksys RE6500 can act as an extension to your router or access point, and we can only use an Ethernet cable upon setting up the extender. However, we suggest you plug in the range extender midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi, and be sure to have at least 50% of your router's Wi-Fi signal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I increased my Geek membership so they could come to my house and they installed the extender. I asked about Ethernet cables and they told me I would have to hire a contractor to do that. When the extender didn’t work I went back to the store and they told me I needed an erro whole-house system which I purchased to the tune of $400.00! Wow! I have spent so much money to get WiFi in my 2,000 sq ft house! A wise friend fixed me up and said I didn’t need any of that so I returned everything. Now the only money I have lost is increasing my Geek membership.
