• For me it worked perfect, now I am using this router with my modem from Spectrum, its model is ARRIS MTA TM1602AP2.

• Yes. You will connect the Spectrum modem to the WAN port, or yellow labelled INTERNET on this router. Then you can either connect vie Ethernet or Wifi to the router. I would also suggest you find a cable modem compatible with Spectrum. When Time Warner Cable started charging a few for modem rental, I bought one from Best Buy. No more recurring charge for rental of a modem!
