You need a modem to connect to the internet. This device is only a router, which when connected to the modem allows you to create a wi-fi (wireless) network. There are other devices that combine both a modem and router in one unit. This one does not.

If you mean to say that the technician installed a wall patch, then you can connect the router to it.
